I seen THIS post by Carissa a couple weeks ago, and I fell in love with the way she organized her themed materials. I had originally planned on just filing my themed items into the file cabinet I have under my desk in the school room, but for some reason they don't seem to ever get filed, and the papers just kept piling up for me to file. After seeing her post I decided that I was going to change the way I planned on storing my themed materials and store them similar to the way she did.
The first Target I went to was out of the 5 pack of folders, but they did have them individually for $1. The second Target had the 5 packs and the individual folders but they were $1.19 for the individual folders.
I went onto the Avery website and designed labels to put onto my folders HERE is a link to download if anyone is interested in using them. I printed them onto Avery address labels 5260 but they work for 5160 as well along with some of the generic brands to. There are 2 of the season labels because I also use a binder to keep certain printable themed material that do not get stored in the explained in more detail below.
Inside the folder I have some little items stored inside envelopes I got at the dollar store, they come in 8 packs. I will eventually be making labels for each of the folders so I know whats in each without having to open them. Here is one of the folders we will be working on through the next couple weeks, it's our Butterfly theme. I use one of the big envelopes to store any extra printables I printed out for the unit that didn't get used, so when we get to that unit again, I can remember to use them!
Here are some of the things you will find inside the folders.
Here are my 3 ring binders, 1 for each season (I need to find 1 more binder for winter)
Inside the spring binder I have a spring calendar with all the holidays for March, April, and May.
Behind the spring calendar are the spring preschool idea pages I printed off from the Month By Month Preschool Almanac (I purchased this during Scholastic $1 sale) There are about 15 pages for each month, they include recipes, crafts, and imaginative play, and all kinds of fun preschool/early learning ideas.
After the monthly pages are some of the games, felt board songs, finger plays, recipes, etc... I have printed off. I store the games and anything with loose parts in clear page protectors so they could be added into the binders and still be clearly visable. This Five Little Kites felt board song below was a free downloaded from Childcareland.
Another "spring" game in the spring binder, downloaded was a free download from Childcareland.
